Can a metal framed foldable gazebo be used during a thunderstorm?

It is not recommended to use foldable gazebos with metal frames during thunderstorms, as this poses a high safety risk. Metal materials themselves have good conductivity. When lightning strikes, if the gazebo is located in an open area or becomes the tallest object around it, it may attract lightning and cause electric shock or other serious accidents. Especially in open outdoor areas such as lawns, squares, or beaches, if people are sheltered under metal frames, once lightning strikes the gazebo or nearby ground, the current may be conducted through the frame, endangering personnel safety.

Thunderstorm weather is usually accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall. Although metal frames have relatively sturdy structures, they may also experience deformation, tilting, or collapse in extreme weather conditions. If there is severe water accumulation or strong wind on the roof, even with weighted sandbags or anchoring systems, it may not be sufficient to ensure structural stability. This not only easily causes damage to the gazebo, but may also result in injury to personnel or damage to exhibits.

Before thunderstorms, foldable gazebos should be removed or folded for storage in advance to avoid exposure to harsh weather conditions. If temporary use is necessary in the rain, non-metallic rain shelters should be selected, or lightning active areas should be avoided, and personnel should be kept away from metal structures. To ensure personal safety and equipment integrity, it is highly discouraged to use metal framed gazebos during thunderstorms.
